Based on the books by Daniel Handler, this dark family comedy centers on three orphaned siblings who are sent to live with bizarre distant cousin Count Olaf (Jim Carrey). Escaping after thwarting several of Olaf's attempts to kill them and steal the family fortune, the children wind up in the care of a series of quirky relatives, including a reptile-obsessed uncle (Billy Connolly) and an intensely phobic aunt (Meryl Streep).
