The world of Idylls Of The King is essentially tragic, lightened by a few brief moments of pleasure. Camelot is a happy world, filled with eccentrics, that becomes saddened through lightheadedness and pranksterish tricks. In both works, Tennyson's moving allegory and Lerner and Loewe's lively musical play, we see a great idea brought to ruin. In the end the frailties of human nature win out. It is not hard to understand why this cycle of stories has excited the imagination of writers for nearly a thousand years.
This book is pretty old. There is some tape and writing on the inside cover, but pages are flat, and the binding is tight.
