The story follows the X-Men as they join forces with their enemy, Magneto, to stop a new threat to both mutants and humans. After an assassination attempt on the President of the United States by a mutant named Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), the government authorizes a covert operation led by Colonel William Stryker (Brian Cox) to capture and study mutants. Stryker's plan involves using Professor Xavier's (Patrick Stewart) telepathic abilities to eradicate all mutants. The X-Men must work together to stop Stryker and prevent a war between humans and mutants.
