Carl Allen (Jim Carrey) is a man who has become withdrawn and negative after his divorce. He attends a self-help seminar where he is challenged to say "yes" to every opportunity that comes his way. Embracing this new philosophy, Carl's life takes a dramatic turn as he starts saying "yes" to everything, from learning new skills to going on spontaneous trips. Along the way, he meets Allison (Zooey Deschanel), a free-spirited woman who helps him see the world in a new light.
